Nicole Sandler leads on Innovation Policy at Barclays. She engages with regulators and policymakers globally for Barclays and focuses on the impact of Fintech related regulation and initiatives including DLT, cryptoassets and AI usecases. Further she advises on various sandbox and regulatory initiatives proposed by regulators and policymakers including the FCA, BoE, ECB, EC, SEC, CFTC, Fed, MAS and Japanese FSA.. In addition she represents Barclays in various regulatory and policy forums and industry groups. For instance, Nicole is on the EC’s Expert Group on Regulatory Obstacles to Financial Innovation as the sole UK banking representative and only 1 of 3 bank representatives in Europe, she is on the EC’s Financial Services Advisory Group to the AI High Level Expert Group, the EBF Digital Strategy ExCo, is a member of the FMLC Technology Scoping Group at the BoE, the BoE and FCA’s Digital Regulatory Reporting Initiative, the JWG Global RegTech Council and also represented Barclays at the EDCAB cryptoasset and blockchain roundtables at the European Parliament. Nicole regularly speaks on panels and at conferences on innovation, diversity and leadership and has published articles including ‘The Internet of Things is a Moving Regulatory Landscape’, the FMLC paper on ‘DLT and governing law’ and the FMLC paper on ‘The legal uncertainties of virtual currencies’. She actively helped set up the International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA) which consists of numerous policymakers and is on their Legal Committee. In addition Nicole is an Advisory Board Member for Regtech Women an initiative that promotes Regtech and helps women network in this space and is also on the Regtech Awards board. Further she is Barclay’s nominee on the IIF’s Future Leader’s Class 2019. Lastly, Nicole is on the Lattice80 Top 100 Women in Fintech Global List 2018, the Innovate Finance Powerlist 2017 and 2018, was a finalist in the ‘Fintech Champion’ category at the Women in Finance Awards 2019 and the ‘Women in PayTech’ category at the 2019 PayTech Awards and was recently named The Most Influential Women in Fintech Regulation at the Wealth and Finance Awards 2019.
