Marcus O’Dair is a Senior Lecturer in Popular Music at Middlesex University, where he leads the Creative Entrepreneurship MA and co-leads the Popular Music BA. He is also convenor of the Blockchain for Creative Industries cluster and was the lead author of the cluster’s 2016 Music on the Blockchain report. As well as academic journals, he has written for publications including the Guardian, the Independent, the Times, the Financial Times, the Irish Times and Uncut. He has appeared on BBC Radio 1, Radio 3, 6Music, the World Service and CNN, and presented podcasts for the Independent, Music Week and the Barbican. Different Every Time, his 2014 biography of Robert Wyatt, was a Radio 4 book of the week and was shortlisted for the Penderyn music book prize. A former session musician with Passenger, he has also released three acclaimed albums and toured Europe as one half of Grasscut.
